Drastic Park Announce New EP & Era with ‘Backdown’

Drastic Park are making even bigger waves this year, and you’re not ready for this tsunami.

This week, the Melbourne pop punk trio-turned-quartet debuted their brand new single ‘Backdown‘, marking the band’s new chapter featuring guitarist Elise Felsbourg. Musically, the song sees Drastic Park leap five steps ahead of the curve whilst still punching out that same high-energy octave we’ve grown to love about these guys.

Through its catchy rhythms and heavy tones, the song sees vocalist John Stokes show support toward loved ones:

The lyrics of Backdown can relate to anyone who is dealing with someone else in their life who is going through either physical or mental pain. Specifically, the song was written about my wife who suffers from endometriosis, pots syndrome and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Together they put her in a lot of pain on a constant basis, make her unable to stand up most of the time and her muscles are slowly deteriorating. The song is about how hard it is for her and for me to help her keep her head above water – but is also about pushing her to keep trying and never back down from the fight.

Backdown‘ is the first single to come off the band’s upcoming EP, Compound Fracture which will be released independently on September 20. You’ll wanna get around this pop punk earworm especially if you’re a Four Year Strong stan. FYS guitarist Alan Day has been working with Drastic Park to help articulate their style and we’re stoked to hear what else is to come!
