Ocean Sleeper Unveil Iridescent New Single ‘Heaven’

Ahead of their highly anticipated appearance at next weekend’s Good Things Festival, Gippsland metalcore unit Ocean Sleeper are dropping in on what we reckon is the beginning of the band’s biggest chapter yet. ‘Heaven‘ is the big, beautiful and hugely melodious new single and holy shit, this packs a punch.

Featuring glistening production amidst larger-than-life riffs and catchy melodies, the track is top tier metalcore that will be spinning in our ears for the rest of the year. From first listen, the hook-laden chorus is the bounciest sound our ears have fallen in love with since hearing that banger by US metalcore act If Not For Me a few months back.

Frontman Karl Spiessl shares:

“‘Heaven’ is about not wanting a part of religious ideologies and the concept of heaven itself. The lyric line ‘I hope you burn with the rest of us’ refers to the corruption of the church. If heaven is a place you end up for treating people badly; then why would you want to be there with those people? Why do I have to fear the afterlife because we don’t share the same faith? For us, heaven is being kind to the people around us in this life. Support everyone for what they love and who they love.”

If there is any Australian metalcore band we have formed an (un)healthy obsession with the past few years, it’s gotta be Ocean Sleeper. From their 2019 breakthrough Don’t Leave Me This Way to last year’s heavy drop (Is It Better Feeling Nothing) to the very recent ‘Never the One‘, the Gippsland trio’s loyal following has grown extensively into one of the nation’s most loved breakout acts in the Aussie scene.

Catch us front row in the pit at Good Things Festival next weekend and you better be joining in.
