Although Windwaker just unveiled a new EP just over a month ago, they did permeate to us back in March that there was much more new music on the horizon to come. Well, the rumour has officially become news — the Melbourne hyper pop/metal aficionados will reveal their sophomore album this July!

Titled HYPERVIOLENCE, the record will include an eclectic blend of that pop/metal sound that marks Windwaker’s quantum leap into the international act they were born to be. Expect the album to celebrate the band’s tenacity to unleash those shimmering hooks, riding sonic waves of heavy-hitters that follows what we saw on Love Language on tracks like ‘Trenches‘.

Their EP, Enter the Wall, which was revealed back in March, will appear on HYPERVIOLENCE as all four tracks are highlighted in the first half of the tracklisting below.

The band have also unveiled new single ‘Break the Rules‘, which is a fun little bop of snappy pop melodies, interwoven with an appealing dose of hip hop beats. It’s evidence that Windwaker are leaning into an edgier personality on this record that sees them ultimately breaking the rules and expectations of an Aussie metalcore act.

“‘Break the Rules’ explores the exchange between two different personalities and the prospect of living life to its fullest. One side is wild and willing to act out regardless of consequence, encouraging the other, who is more reserved and considerate, but ultimately unable to live beyond the rules of society (and therefore unable to live care-free like the former). To put it plainly, it’s a conversation between an introvert and an extrovert trying to highlight why their way of life is superior to the other, all while accepting the benefit to both approaches.”
