Canadian pop punk act Bearings have been one of our favourite acts in the scene lately and they’re back with cathartic new hit, ‘Stormy Weather‘. It is just the feelgood track we need as Aussie pop punk fans prepare to snuggle up for the cooler months ahead.
Aiming for familiar sounds that emanate from US legends State Champs, ‘Stormy Weather‘ kicks up the ante with energetic melodies and perseverance in the best way. It’s a punchy guitar-led anthem of keeping your head up through the lows we go through in life when you just can’t anymore.
“It’s about being exhausted by your situation, but fighting through it. A bad period of time sucks but you have gotta get through it and have a little faith in the future”
– Bearings
It also marks the band’s first release since last year’s record, The Best Part About Being Human. The album is set to be released in a deluxe edition featuring two more new tracks alongside ‘Stormy Weather‘, out September 20 through Pure Noise Records.
The song also feels like the pipedream Bearings have been waiting for to bring their catchy tunes to faraway places like Australia. They’ve toured extensively across North America with Australian pop punk favourites Between You and Me. While BYAM are currently on tour back home this month, introducing US act Young Culture to Aussie fans, we’re yearning for the day that this Canadian act will be next on the pop punk tour wishlist.
