A Day To Remember Finally Dropped a New Single and… We Have ‘Feedback’

A Day To Remember’s latest single ‘Feedback‘ comes just four years after they unveiled their seventh album, You’re Welcome. While this release offered up decent tracks like ‘Mindreader‘, ‘Degenerates‘ and ‘Resentment‘, most of the record did fall a little short. Honestly? I don’t go back to this record often as that’s how memorable it is, but when I do, I am reminded that this is definitely an A Day To Remember record.

Upon my first listen to ‘Feedback‘ though, it immediately sounded off. Its manic mesh of heavy guitars racing through my ears sounded straight up like a Nickelback song. Lyrically, it deemed overly repetitive and lacked that emotional substance. Frontman Jeremy McKinnon is obviously unleashing some mad angst at the world, possibly surrounding their situation in 2021 when OG bassist Joshua Woodard departed the band.

The song did improve towards the end there with a derivative mosh-inducing breakdown that is a core element of ADTR. However, you know it and I know it. It isn’t the band’s best work and things can only go up from here. Am I being too optimistic? I hope not.

As a pop punk diehard, A Day To Remember were one of those bands back in the day that had me opening my ears wider into heavier music pastures. Their 2009 LP, Homesick is a staple for heavy music fans across the world and is the #1 reason I am making the trip back to Las Vegas once again for When We Were Young Festival this October. Because let’s face it — the likelihood that the band will tour Homesick in Australia is slim to none. I hope I’m wrong though because this tour would actually rule.
