Rare Words Unleash Anthemic Single ‘Antidote’

Brisbane rock quartet Rare Words are feeling ready to rock with brand new single ‘Antidote’. The boys have been on the rise these past few months, playing several support slots around the Valley with the likes of AM//PM Emo Night, Lune and Patient Sixty-Seven. However, we reckon it’s about time these guys embarked down a path all their own.

‘Antidote‘ brings about an alluring new style for Rare Words. Through an ethereal, rocky soundscape, we bare witness to vocalist Joel Reardon tackling the challenges of living with ADHD pre-diagnosis. Sonically, the chorus delivers a soaring hook that isn’t too different from emo/post-hardcore acts Silverstein and Holding Absence.

“The song talks about how trapped and lost I felt – always crying out for an ‘antidote’ to feel more normal. It’s been a super cathartic experience reflecting back and seeing how much change I’ve been able to make within myself over the last 12 months of understanding and treating ADHD.”

– Joel Reardon, Rare Words vocalist

Self-produced and mastered with the help of Ocean Grove’s Sam Bassal, ‘Antidote’ sees Rare Words finally break down the door into their next chapter. If this song is anything to go by, we may be looking at Brissie’s next big rock breakthroughs. Here for it!
