One of Australia’s well-loved rock acts are back and sounding better than ever. Melbourne-based emo/rock outfit Belle Haven are gliding gracefully back to the forefront with new single ‘fauxlove‘.
Frontman David De La Hoz delivers soaring vocal energy that feels explosive against the high-energy riffs moving in incredible motion throughout. This overall sound sees ‘fauxlove‘ tackle the art of falling in love (or lust) and it’s one of the band’s most endearing work we’ve heard.
“Lyrically, ‘fauxlove’ delves into the intricate and conflicting emotions of craving love and intimacy while simultaneously fearing it. It’s a paradox that I live every day. The line ‘love me with the lights down low’ highlights the desire to be loved without the vulnerability of being fully seen, while the line ‘sinking into you’ portrays how the pursuit of love can quickly become overwhelming and feel out of my control. This theme is brought to life in the music video through the use of harsh spotlight shots and overwhelming paparazzi-style imagery, effectively illustrating the tension between wanting to be loved and feeling engulfed by that very desire. Or it’s about having sex. Whatever you prefer to take from it.”
– David De La Hoz, vocalist
The song is the first track to drop from Belle Haven’s forthcoming EP, Something New. The EP will be released independently on October 4. They’re also set to appear at BIGSOUND in Brisbane next month as part of Destroy All Lines‘ Agency Showcase at the Brightside.
