Thornhill’s BODIES makes you want to cry, scream, and hook up with your ex all at once. And that’s kind of the point.
This isn’t a safe follow-up to Heroine. It’s Thornhill completely unfiltered — impulsive, chaotic, and painfully honest. From the second ‘DIESEL‘ kicks in, the band sound like they’ve ripped up their own rulebook. The riffs are harsh and angular, the drums pound with urgency, and Jacob Charlton’s vocals swing between seductive crooning and full-blown rage.
But BODIES isn’t just heavy — it’s emotional. Songs like ‘Revolver‘ and ‘Obsession‘ simmer with tension, bouncing between vulnerability and violence. There’s a push and pull across the whole record that keeps you on edge — like it might implode at any moment. And that’s what makes it so addictive.
Charlton’s vocal performance is next level. He doesn’t just sing — he acts. There are moments where he whispers so close it feels like he’s in your head, then suddenly he’s screaming like he’s trying to tear his way out of his own skin. It’s intense, but never overdone.
The sound across BODIES is wild in the best way. Thornhill experiment with shoegaze textures, eerie electronics, and even trip-hop vibes. ‘CRUSH‘ wouldn’t feel out of place on a dark R&B record, but it somehow fits perfectly between two of the heaviest tracks on the album. Nothing feels random — it’s just the sound of a band leaning into instinct and trusting their gut.
Lyrically, it’s dark, raw, and dripping with desire. There’s lust, heartbreak, power struggles — it’s messy, like real relationships are. Instead of tying it all into a neat concept, Thornhill let it live in that chaos. The result feels more real than anything they’ve done before.
This isn’t the Thornhill we met on The Dark Pool, and it’s not just a glossier Heroine 2.0. BODIES is a complete reset — more dangerous, more emotional, more them. While it might not be what some fans expected, it’s exactly what this band needed.
If you’re into heavy music that takes risks, hits hard and makes you feel something, BODIES should be on repeat. It’s not perfect — it’s better. It’s real.
