Following multiple teases and cryptic messaging this past week, US rock outfit I Prevail have officially lifted the hood off of their new era. ‘Violent Nature’ is set to take everything you knew about I Prevail and flip it on its head.
Last week, the band announced the departure of clean vocalist Brian Burkheiser as he looks to focus his time and energy in other aspects of his life. I Prevail have since done a complete reset on their socials, in order to bring in a brand new musical chapter with guitarist Dylan Bowman stepping up as a backing vocalist for heavy vocal man Eric Vanlerberghe.
New single ‘Violent Nature’ wastes no time in building momentum and sends you straight into a ferocious burst of metalcore that feels like you’ve been thrown against the wall. The riffs are deafening, and with Eric Vanlerberghe now taking on vocals completely solo, it’s a track that will ultimately divide the I Prevail fanbase from here on out.
“Aggressive, fast, and heavy. All packed into 2 minutes and 10 seconds. Turn it up and put your head through the fucking wall.”
– Eric Vanlerberghe, I Prevail vocalist
Despite being their heaviest track to date, ‘Violent Nature’ somehow manages to bolster the relentless energy and signature high-octane rock energy that I Prevail have finetuned and developed over three records. As a longtime listener of the band, I am embracing this new chapter and look forward to what the guys bring upon us next. Gotta expect the unexpected.
