Fresh off their most recent tour in Brisbane last week, Sydney melodic hardcore gang Bloom have unleashed their brand new track, ‘Tongue Tied‘. The song is the second track to appear from their forthcoming album, The Light We Chase, which is set to drop on 31 October.
As we witnessed at their show, the boys are treading into new musical territory and ‘Tongue Tied‘ is sheer proof of that. Marking the band’s cleanest song to date, it sees vocalist Jono Hawkey hone his talents in on singing soft melodies and it’s a stark contrast against previously released single ‘Withered‘.
“While it begins as an acoustic track, electric guitars and drums barge into the song with energy midway through the second verse, and lead the song to a finger pointing, sing-a-long refrain of ‘what am I without you.’ The song balances two clean voices as it balances full band and acoustic sections that flow naturally after the other, as the vocals balance honesty and fear in equal parts.”

Mikaila’s addition to this song of vulnerability injects powerhouse emotion, resulting in ‘Tongue Tied‘ delivering an emo/punk dynamic. We’re huge fans of this style and believe that Bloom are about to embark on their best chapter yet.
This also isn’t the first time the band have collaborated with Mikaila either. Jono appeared on Yours Truly’s last album TOXIC on the track ‘Sinking‘. Personally, I love the powerhouse acoustics of their new collab even more.
