Ice Nine Kills have cooked up something special for the brand new horror sequel Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. Working with the film’s directing duo Radio Silence, behind Scream (2022) and Scream VI, the band created Grave Diggler, a fictional glam rock band straight out of the sleazy, eyeliner-and-excess era of Poison, Mötley Crüe, and W.A.S.P.
The concept runs pretty deep here. Grave Diggler comes complete with a full backstory: a hard-partying outfit that burned bright, fell apart by the early ’90s, and left behind a long-banned 1987 music video. That video, for the track ‘Hell or High Slaughter’ (Grave Diggler: Pt. 2), is now seeing the light of day as part of the film’s promotion.
It’s the band’s next major horror franchise collaboration in quick succession, following ‘Twisting the Knife‘, their recent team-up with Mckenna Grace for Scream 7.
For frontman Spencer Charnas, the Ready or Not 2 project also carries a personal thread. “I’ve been estranged from my father for a long time,” he says. “But this movie, and this song, while bringing a lot of complicated feelings to the surface, also brought us back together.”
Meanwhile, Australian fans won’t have to wait long to catch the band live. Ice Nine Kills are heading down under this September alongside Electric Callboy for a run of huge headline shows.
