He’s just wrapped up his first Australian/New Zealand tour in 8 years, but MGK looks like he’s ready to go on his next chapter. Following the Lost Americana era, it appears that Colson Baker is still in it for the rock; this time targeting the nu-metal heads.
‘Fix Ur Face’ is a punchy, unashamed callback to the late ’90s nu metal era, and it’s somehow also a greatest hits tour of every genre MGK has ever touched. Rap included. The lyrical content carries the weight of that, leaning into social commentary that feels rooted in the locked-in, introverted headspace of 2020. There’s a rawness to it that suits the genre throwback well.
As for Fred Durst? Well, the Limp Bizkit frontman shows up with the signature energy you’d expect, though his presence is largely confined to a chorus that doesn’t overstay its welcome so much as it just… stays. Repeatedly. If the repetition grates on you, that’s probably the point. MGK doesn’t seem particularly bothered either way.
Like it or hate it, ‘Fix Ur Face‘ makes one thing abundantly clear: MGK does not give a f**k what anyone else thinks.
